The International Dance Organization’s year in 2021 in the autumn season saw its busiest time of the year especially in producing extraordinary online and face to face events. Here are some highlights between October and December 2021:

The IDO AGM and ADM’s took place on in October 2021 with all four meetings organised online via Zoom. Forty-five national member organisations and ninety-two delegates took part. The Annual General Meetings for 2022 are scheduled to be in the summer and face to face in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The IDO 40 Awards were announced in a superb online TV Ceremony. IDO Extraordinary Achievement Awards have been awarded to the founding fathers and founding national member organisations including Moreno Polidori, Dominque Bengasini (posthumously), Michael Prescott MBE, Italy, France, Gibraltar and Switzerland.

IDO Awards for Excellence, have been awarded to Bill Fowler (posthumously) for his invaluable contribution to IDO, Michael Wendt for his loyalty to IDO as President, Organiser and the most important person of the team building and to Kirsten Dan Jensen for serving IDO in the Presidium for over two decades and her successful development of the IDO Street Dance Department. Other awards have been announced in the areas of Historic, Special Achievement, Development, Dance, National Members and Special Partners Award.

IDO European and World competitions have also been produced during this quarter online or face to face: The IDO European Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz Championships online, the IDO World Street Dance Show Championships and World Disco Cups in Follinica, Italy and the IDO World Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz Championships in Warsaw, Poland. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to the organizers and everyone involved in making these IDO Championships a reality.

Other activities include the licensed events in La Spezia and Katrineholm as well as the Performing Arts online seminar in South Korea. The seminar featured excellent Master-Teachers from IDO and the conference-region aiming to promote various dance genres as well as workshops with dance professionals.

2021…what a year for IDO! We have all grown to love IDO and we will continue to work to ensure that IDO continues to flourish in its artistic journey, education, experience, and excellence in dance. SEE YOU IN 2022!
