AN IDO YEAR IN REVIEW! Part 2- Press Release 180/2021
The International Dance Organization’s year in 2021 second quarter saw a jam-packed online offering. Here are some highlights of IDO’s 2021 between April and June 2021:
Two major milestones took place this quarter, namely the launch of the IDO Web TV and the IDO Continent versus Continent competition. The IDO WEB TV is an extraordinary platform that premiered online championships, depicts IDO 40 years with footage from the IDO National Member of the Week, the IDO World Gala, IDO Education, amongst other promotional and competition videos.
IDO Continent versus continent online competition was the brainchild of IDO Vice-President and IDO Sports Director Fiona Johnson, in what was an initiative which weas started by Bonnie Dyer. IDO CvC represented the spirit of unification, openness, accessibility to attract new dance schools to join our national federations. To give motivation and support to our National Members in these strange times, to give dancers an opportunity to dance even online, to find a way to send out a message to the World that no one can take away our spirits and willingness to dance, to gather all our IDO members from all Continents in a competition without any extra costs, visas etc.
Also, during these three months, IDO becomes a member of the ISNO – International Sports Network Organization, IDO holds its first ever face to face in Follinica, Italy since the Covid pandemic, and other online events also take place, including Master of Ceremonies seminars, Continental Conferences as well as departmental meetings.
We look forward tomorrow to Part 3 of our IDO Year in Review!
