AN IDO YEAR IN REVIEW! Part 1- Press Release 179/2021
The International Dance Organization’s year in 2021 saw a very proactive first quarter, filled with seminars, examinations, meetings, lectures, masterclasses and an online offering. Here are some highlights of IDO’s 2021 between January and March 2021:
Professor Dr. Velibor Srdic was appointed IDO President (Ag) and looked ahead to the many challenges and interesting projects for 2021 and beyond. He emphasised that the IDO family is unique, large and widely known and recognized as an international world sports dance organization, with exceptional people.
The IDO Webinar was certainly the highlight for this quarter. The IDO Webinar discussed the challenges for the management of sports organizations during Covid-19, with an esteemed panel of seven speakers. The IDO Sports Department coordinated the session that examined the principles and effects this universal pandemic has had in the field of sports.
Throughout February and March, the IDO saw its annual forums, the new lecture series, dance committees, masterclasses and continental conferences all held online. An IDO Dancers Commission was also set up, acting as the voice for IDO active licensed dancers around the world and to protect their rights and interests.
An extraordinary online worldwide event was also launched in March! The IDO Continent versus Continent competitions was open to all dancers globally, all three IDO Dance Departments as well as all IDO categories and divisions. All continental rounds would be held up to June 2021 with the top entries in each department, qualifying for the first round of the IDO Gala World Event, later on in the year.
Tomorrow we look forward to Part 2 of our IDO Year in Review!
